Who Is GC-HARMS?
The GC-HARMS Citizen Science network is a collaboration of community groups across the Gulf which includes:
Alabama Fisheries Cooperative (Coden / Bayou la Batre AL)
Center for Environmental & Economic Justice (Biloxi MS)
Vietnemese Community Partner (Gulfport – Biloxi MS)
United Houma Nation (Houma LA)
Bayou Inter-Faith Shared Community Organizing (Thibodaux LA)
Louisiana Environmental Action Network (Baton Rouge LA).
These non-profits teamed with environmental toxicologists, epidemiologists and physicians from the University of Texas Medical Branch, the University of Pennsylvania and Louisiana State University in a five year project to assess the impact of the oil spill on the northern Gulf of Mexico food web, and the health of randomly selected coastal residents for whom the Gulf is a major food source after the Deep Water Horizon oil well disaster.
